The final underground tape released by Three 6 Mafia before their national debut. Spring Mix dropped just months before Mystic Stylez was released in May of 1995. Marking the group’s transition from local Memphis dominance to a nationwide audience. This tape is especially notable for featuring “Runnin’ Lip,” which marks the debut of the original Killa Klan kaze, later known as Kamikaze. A group that would continue releasing albums well beyond the ’90s. Sonically, Spring Mix still carries that raw, underground Memphis feel, but you can hear the group sharpening their sound right before the leap to a full studio album.
