It’s The Criminal Manne is Criminal Manne’s first full solo release and one of the earliest tapes to fully establish his identity outside of features and DJ-driven compilations. Released in 1994, this project captures Criminal Manne at his rawest; aggressive delivery, street-focused storytelling, and a cold, minimal Memphis sound that would become his trademark. The tape is closely tied to the DJ Squeeky & DJ Zirk camp, featuring multiple interludes and collaborations that anchor it firmly in the Orange Mound / underground Memphis circuit. Tracks like “Pimp That Bitch” and “It’s The Criminal Manne” introduce his unapologetic persona, while appearances from Thugsta, Al Kapone, Tinimaine, Michael Street, and DJ Squeeky highlight how embedded he already was within the scene. Sonically, the tape balances gritty street rap with DJ radio-style transitions, giving it the feel of a true mid-90s Memphis street cassette. This release laid the groundwork for Criminal Manne’s later work and helped cement him as a key figure in the darker, harder edge of Memphis rap. Nowadays Criminal Manne is known as a semi-successful independent movie director. Although, he still drops new albums & music videos. Making him one of only a few from this era that still do so in 2026.
