V.O.S. Family – Solo Tape (1996)

Produced by Robert Hatchett, V.O.S. Family was released in 1996 and serves as the group’s debut release before their 1997 album, Come-N-2-My World. The group consisted primarily of The Chamber, Mr. Blue, and The Grave, whose chemistry laid the foundation for their later work. This release is especially notable because Tracks 4 and 5 significantly expand the known V.O.S. catalog. “Keep Your Head Up” had surfaced online years ago but was difficult to find and had never previously been identified as belonging to this EP. “You Gets No Love,” meanwhile, remained completely unheard until the discovery of this tape. As a result, this release provides an important look at the group’s earliest recordings and preserves material that was previously unavailable to collectors and fans.
