2 Low Key – Test My Nutz (1995)

Test My Nutz is the first official release produced by M.D.B. and represents the Willet Klick, a North Memphis crew from Willet Street. While Lo Key himself is originally from South Memphis, this tape firmly plants its flag in the North Memphis underground sound of the mid-’90s. Lil Sixx was incarcerated during the recording of the project, leaving Lo Key to carry the release alongside a small circle of collaborators. Released in April 1995, the tape leans heavily into dark street themes, raw delivery, and minimal, hard-hitting production. Fitting squarely into the gritty Memphis soundscape emerging just before the city’s national breakthrough. “Devil Shit” is a cult classic among Memphis Rap fans for its iconic samples, bass, and devilish lyrics.

Side A has some audio dropout issues due to it being damaged in 2021. For this reason I ripped my other copy. THIS IS NOT THE TAPE I RIPPED ONLINE. Although It is a verified 1997 2nd press. Which released before TW would begin putting “Tommy Wright’s Cousin” on the front.
