Lil Sixx – Devil’s Mind (1995)

Released in December 1995 and produced by M.D.B., Devil’s Mind arrived shortly after Lo Key’s Test My Nutz from April 1995. A project Lil Sixx was absent from due to being in county jail during its recording. By the time this tape dropped, the Willet Klick sound had grown darker and more aggressive, with M.D.B.’s production leaning heavily into eerie loops, thick basslines, and the raw street atmosphere that defined the North Memphis underground. Devil’s Mind captures Lil Sixx stepping fully into his own lane, delivering grim storytelling and ruthless energy that reflects the tension surrounding the Klick during this period. Tracks like “Bloody Glock” and the title cut carry a sinister tone, while collaborations with Sir Mike G and M.D.B. reinforce the tight-knit chemistry of the camp. As one of the late-1995 underground releases tied to the Willet Street movement, the tape stands as an important continuation of the sound introduced earlier that year.
