Believed to be produced & Engineered by Archie “Baldhead” at Binghampton Studios, Real G is widely considered one of the earliest releases associated with II Black and the Mitchell Heights/Naptown movement. The tape likely predates both II Black’s Down With M.H.V. and the Da Twinz project, making it an important early document of the crew’s sound during 1996. At the time, II Black was approximately 22–23 years old and was beginning to establish himself as both a producer and rapper. Featuring a large cast of artists representing Naptown and the Mitchell Heights Veterans, including Gangsta C, Big Twin, Lil Folk, Lil Twin, Lil D, Lil Mane, Big Dogg, Lil Dick, Lil Chucky and Mac Mane, Real G is a rare glimpse into one of Memphis’ lesser-known but highly respected neighborhood rap collectives. Even Thoough the tape is incredibly short with only two tracks.
