Low Life – Solo Tape (1996)

Released in 1996, Immortal Lowlifes serves as a promotional EP for the group’s full-length album, The Black Fortress, which followed later the same year. The group consisted of Dirty Mack, Lil Rick, Tony Montana, Boy Blue, Lil Smoked Out, and Mr. Sche, with additional appearances from Bluntman throughout the project. Even in its short runtime, the EP showcases the dark, laid-back production and street-oriented lyricism that would become synonymous with the group’s sound. It also marks one of the earliest releases featuring Mr. Sche, who would later establish himself as one of the more recognizable names to emerge from the Memphis underground. As a preview of The Black Fortress, this tape offers an excellent introduction to the Immortal Lowlifes and the style they would further develop on their debut album.
