One of the darker and more cinematic releases connected to the mid-90s Memphis underground, Niggaz Don’t Die Part #1 showcases DJ Fela’s gritty production style alongside a wide roster of affiliates including Midnyte, J.D.C, DJ Rod, Mr. Mike, and DJ Pinky. Built around eerie interludes, street-style phone skits, and heavy low end drum programming, the tape plays almost like a continuous audio film. Shifting between aggressive posse cuts and moody solo performances. The project reflects the raw DIY energy of the era, blending horrorcore themes with regional storytelling rooted in South Memphis and surrounding scenes. Tracks like “Killa,” “Mo Murder,” and “Young Kid Raised In The City” highlight the tape’s bleak atmosphere, while mixes and interludes help maintain the classic cassette-era pacing that defined many underground releases of the time. DJ Fela himself was unfortunately shot and killed while Deejaying in a club In Memphis in July 2001. Fela’s real name was Eric Burks.
