Released in 1996 through Memphis International Records, Daze Like This is one of the label’s standout underground releases and arrived shortly before Playa Fly’s Fly Shit and the SPV Click compilation tape. Interestingly, two official versions of the release exist, each with different cover artwork. One issued on cassette and another on CD. The album features appearances from Out on Bail Click members, Gangsta Blac, Playa Fly, Gangsta Zo, Crazy K, Murda Mane, Killa Ko, and Lil Pen. Reflecting the strong connection between Derrick D Records and the South Parkway Village (SPV) scene during the mid-1990s. Combining melodic production with street-oriented storytelling, Daze Like This captures a pivotal moment just before several of its featured artists gained wider recognition in the Memphis underground. Much of this tape also centers around the fact that Derrick D had just gotten out of a jail sentence after he was arrested March 31st, 1995 for a 6 month jail sentence.
