Produced by Rated X and S.O.S., 3 Memphis Kniccas, also known simply as 3MK. Is the group’s debut release and one of the more distinctive underground Memphis tapes of 1996. While the group’s rapid-fire, melodic flows were clearly influenced by the success of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, the tape ironically spends much of its runtime taking direct shots at the Cleveland group, most notably on “Muthafuck Bone” and “East 99 My Ass.” The core lineup consists of Rated X, S.O.S., and Teflon, with additional appearances from Thugsta. Blending dark production, aggressive lyricism, and harmony-driven flows, 3 Memphis Kniccas stands as a unique example of Memphis artists adapting a popular style while simultaneously rejecting the group that inspired it.
