Introduction / Disclaimer

This timeline is my own best interpretation of the release order of Memphis rap tapes, based on years of collecting, researching, and cross-referencing information from various sources. Because these tapes were sold in stereo shops, traded hand-to-hand, and often bootlegged, exact release dates can be difficult to verify.

The sequence presented here reflects the most accurate order I’ve been able to reconstruct and should be viewed as a historical guide, not an absolute. If new evidence surfaces, I may adjust the placement of certain tapes to better reflect their actual release history. In addition, I only list tapes here that I physically own. Since those are the ones that I archive. This list will be continually updated as I rip and archive more releases.
