Pimps & Playas was a short-lived North Memphis collective consisting of Lil E, Mista KJ, Pimp Cee (The Gangsta Gal),M.O.E, Lil Corrupt, Tha Savage and Lemonade. The tape was most likely produced by Mista KJ with Juicy J tracks as well. This is likely the group’s only known release, making it a true one-off in the Memphis underground. Notably, the tape features Lil E (aka Eric Gales), a former Three Six Mafia member, whose appearances help link this project to the broader Memphis rap ecosystem of the early–mid 1990s. The sound leans toward laid-back pimp themes, weed talk, and street narratives rather than the darker horror-leaning style that dominated much of the scene at the time. It also features a dedications track to their fallen friend named Big B. Who had apparently unfortunately passed away in February 19 1994 after being shot and killed by an AK-47 in North Memphis.
