MVP of The Monsta Klick – C.L.O.U.T (1995)

Produced entirely by MVP, C.L.O.U.T is one of the more popular and important South Memphis releases from the mid-90s. The tape was released sometime before May 1995 and predates Lil Gin’s Shake Junt. The production and sound would be best characterized as down south g-funk. Chozen dominates much of the tape, with strong supporting appearances from Rich-Bum, Cody, Indo G, Skinny Pimp, and Lil Gin. Tracks like “M.E.M.P.H.I.S.” and “187 Wayz” lean into local pride and street realism, while darker cuts like “Sleepin’ In Hell” and “Nightmare Niggaz” tap into the sinister edge Memphis was becoming known for at the time.
