By Volume 14, DJ Paul’s signature Memphis horrorcore sound had fully matured. This tape feels like a pivotal moment — a raw and sinister turning point in the evolution of his underground catalog. The mixing is darker, tighter, and more layered than earlier entries, and you can hear him leaning further into the eerie, slowed-down elements that would eventually define Three 6 Mafia’s style. Highlights include a grimy performance from R.A.N on “Quit Fuckin’ Wit Da R.A.N.,” as well as standout appearances from Skinny Pimp, Lord Infamous, and Homicyde on the posse cut “Suck a Nigga Dick II.” The energy never lets up, with solid tape exclusives and blends packed into both sides, including “Murder on the Menu,” “Chewin’ Ass Nigga,” and the stoned-out “Keep on Smoking Them Bluntz.” This tape is still one of my all-time favorites and is one of my most coveted tapes.
