DJ B.K. – Super Master Mix Production Volume #36
A previously unheard DJ B.K. release surfacing from the early ’90s Super Master Mix run, capturing a raw snapshot of the Southern and West Coast underground colliding on tape. By the time this volume was recorded, DJ B.K. was already refining his fast-cut, bass-heavy style, blending street records, radio favorites, and regional anthems into a single continuous mix. Volume #36 stands out for its inclusion of early Homicyde tracks alongside staples from artists like Too $hort, N.W.A., Eazy-E, Scarface, and Rodney O & Joe Cooley. The tape balances hard gangsta rap, Miami bass, and DJ-driven interludes, reflecting the era when Memphis DJs freely pulled from multiple regions while still shaping a distinct Southern sound. As with many Super Master Mix tapes, this volume was never widely circulated at the time, making it an important archival piece in DJ B.K.’s catalog and a strong example of early ’90s underground DJ culture.
