This is Al Kapone’s 4th tape and 3rd full album, released in 1994 shortly after Pure Ghetto Anger. By this point Kapone was fully established in the Memphis underground, and Sinista Funk shows a more refined but still raw sound compared to his earlier releases. Most of the production comes from his original DJ, Dizzy D, with additional beats from Lil Pat, SMK, and E-Rokk, giving the tape a darker, g-funk-heavy edge that still fits squarely within the mid-90s Memphis style. The project blends street narratives with g-funk-influenced production, short skits, and guest appearances from key figures in the scene, including Michael Street and members of Da Kartell like G.K. & 1st Degree. This tape sits in an important transition period for Kapone, bridging his early solo work with the sound that would later help define his legacy.
