With all the modern speculation-style videos about Chicago drill rappers, I sometimes think about how wild it would be if people made similar deep-dive content on the Memphis rap scene of the early ’90s. That era was just as gritty and connected to the streets — maybe even more so — especially considering how high the city’s crime rate was between 1990 and 1995.

Im pretty sure artists like Homicyde, Lil Glock, S.O.G., Lil Noid, Teflon have already long jumped off that porch. While other artists like Koopsta Knicca, Crunchy Black, Lord Infamous, Kilo-G, Buckshots, Project Pat, Nigga Creep I would say that I wouldn't be surprised if they were involved with potential crimes to that degree. What do you guys think? No disrespect to anyone on here I mentioned.

Yes, but fortunately most of the people back then moved on from that lifestyle & more than likely want nothing to do with what were involved with, much less talk about it. We did get a little documentary piece on the LMG Mafia with G-Train a few years back. In contrast, the West Coast Scene, more specifically the Bangin' On Wax days, seems to be relatively well documented, for a variety of reasons. 1. Most of the artists back then are still connected to that lifestyle 2. It was much more popular back than Memphis was i.e. more eyes/media coverage.

It was a different era back then, no technology & no really reliable to get stories to even make a video about it, but there is a incident I recall involving DJ Paul's brother, Craig Pettis & the West Memphis rapper, SS Boy.

@ss03 I almost wanted to mention G-Train on here, but he is an obvious pick since he is definetely more of a Gang Member than a rapper. But it's true that they were connected for eternity. DJ Paul had multiple brothers involved in illegal crime. Craig was definitely the biggest of such. Everything else regarding other rappers is pretty much speculation. Even Womack The Omen for basically being the reason Fela died in the club for setting off a fight. I feel like 12 for speculating but it's interesting regardless given how common it was where their from and how often they talked about it.
