Been seeing other less informed people claim that MJG from 8Ball & MJG was producing songs on albums like DJ Paul Volume #14. NOOO. The person in question would be Emp Da Pimp from Allied Productions, aka "MJ". Not MJG, who was 8 years older than Paul, living in Houston by 1993, and was signed to a major label called Suave House Records in Houston, Texas. DJ Paul had real beef with Orange Mound through the Squeeky conflict. So to say that Squeeky’s first artist, MJG, would all of a sudden produce for Paul is fucking crazy. That’s the equivalent of saying Crunchy Black produced for DJ Squeeky. Like what???
Sorry for the loose writing style and emotions in this. I just hate that people water down information and contributions of these artists the more time goes on through misinformation. No diss to anyone in particular. But everyone, if you’re going to make a point to put out “facts” regarding the Memphis scene, at least be 100% certain that these facts are indeed facts and not outside speculation by people who have never lived a day as a Black American, let alone a Memphis resident with all due respect.
Respect the culture, but don’t try to change it. Much love everyone lol. And no, I don’t live anywhere near Memphis. I rep my hood every day till they bury me under the mf.
