Given how DJ Squeeky often claims that DJ Paul and Juicy J stole his entire sound, I’ve always been curious about how everyone feels regarding that long-standing feud — and who you actually prefer.

Squeeky’s sound with Mo’ Cheda and the early 8Ball & MJG material definitely had that dark, melodic, and sample-heavy feel years before Three 6 blew up with a similar style. At the same time, Paul and Juicy took that raw Memphis formula and refined it into something far more cinematic and polished, eventually shaping what most people recognize today as the “Memphis sound.”

Do you think Squeeky deserves more credit for being one of the true originators of that eerie, hypnotic production? Or do you feel that Paul and Juicy simply perfected what Squeeky helped pioneer and brought it to a larger audience?

Who’s your personal favorite between them — Squeeky or Three 6 — and why?

Squeeky, one of the more popular producers back then, obviously had an influence on the duo but not in the way he tells/believes. Personally I could never draw the connection between their production styles. What does he mean by "his entire sound"? The duo rarely used the same drums as Squeeky, yes they might of used the same samples but they were used in different contexts.

Squeeky's production although great was being phased out & losing its identity by the time the Crunk & Dirty South scene sound was developing into what it was in 1997-2004. Pauls production & by extension Juicy J's, also phased out but at a slower pace, but the key difference was that the duo was able to keep up with the developing sound as they were developing it themselves.
