Produced by B.B., also known as DJ Scandalous, Black Mystic X serves as a continuation of the Edith to Orleans Click following their Unsolved Mysteries release in 1995. Retaining the group’s dark, atmospheric production style, the tape features Fatality, Lil Dope, Top Dog, Black Tony, and Big E, while B.B. handles the production and DJ duties throughout. The project expands on the eerie sound established by the previous year’s release, even including an “Unsolved Mysteries Mix” as a nod to the group’s earlier work. Though often overlooked, Black Mystic X is an important follow-up in the Edith to Orleans Click catalog and showcases DJ Scandalous’ signature production during one of the most creative periods of the Memphis underground.
