Orange Juice Clique – Gangsta Tales (1996)
Released in 1996, Gangsta Tales followed Orange Juice Click’s Crazy Red and preceded Chilly D’s 1997 solo tape. Released through Black Temple Records, the tape continues the group’s signature Orange Mound sound with a strong emphasis on Chilly D, who appears throughout much of the project. Other members featured include Bony Mac, 211, E-Rasha, J Love, Mr. C, and Killa B, delivering a mix of street narratives and posse cuts backed by the group’s dark, sample-driven production. While shorter than many Memphis releases of the era, Gangsta Tales remains an important chapter in the Orange Juice Click catalog and serves as a bridge between the group’s earlier work and Chilly D’s subsequent solo career.
