Glock N My Hand is a mid-1990s Memphis underground release from The Legend Lady J, entirely produced by DJ Zae at OB Records, a label known for its raw, street-level sound and close ties to the local scene. The project stands out not only for its aggressive delivery but also for its place within a small circle of OB Records releases that captured Memphis rap at its most unfiltered. While DJ Zae handled all production duties, the album also carries writing credits from Oscar Barnes, DJ Fela (Fila), and DJ Spanish Fly, reflecting a collaborative creative environment within the OB camp. The cover photograph of Lady J was shot by Marcus Bean, the same person behind the production for Lil Marc – Boss Playa (1994), further linking the tape visually and historically to other key Memphis underground releases of the era. Lyrically, Glock N My Hand blends confrontational street themes with confident, no-nonsense delivery. Tracks like “Find A Ho,” “I Hate These Lyin’ Ass Bitches,” and the title track emphasize Lady J’s unapologetic presence, while songs such as “I’m Creepin’” and “You Can Talk Your Ass Off” highlight her ability to move between menace and swagger with ease. DJ Zae’s production keeps things dark and minimal, giving the tape a consistent, gritty tone that aligns closely with OB Records’ aesthetic. As one of the few female-fronted Memphis tapes from 1995, Glock N My Hand holds particular significance, showcasing Lady J’s place within a scene largely dominated by male artists while maintaining the same raw intensity and street realism as her peers. As well as impressively dominating all lyrics for her own tape which is even more rare than a solo female rapper in Memphis.
